Gloucester City manager Tim Harris is set to bring in a new signing during the week who he believes will add some good competition to his squad.

Speaking after the Tigers’ 1-0 win away to Altrincham on Saturday the City boss is looking at adding to the side during the busy period of players moving around in the January, across the country.

“We’re going to bring another lad in next week with some good pedigree, and it’s going to give us that little bit of an edge that we haven’t had over the last five or six weeks” said Harris.

City have been without a number of key players in recent weeks due to injury, illness and suspension, but with many returning, Harris is hoping to see players fighting for places to remain in the starting eleven.

“It’s going to give us a bit of an edge for competition with Chris Knowles coming back and Joe Hanks has got over his injury although he did get a whack in the face earlier on today [against Altrincham], it just gives us some options”.

With the Tigers sat in 11th in the Vanarama National League North, we now look forward to Darlington 1883 away on Saturday which will be a tough test. City will be hoping to have the deal complete and ready to put our new man in the squad for the long trip to the North East.
