Following a further meeting of its ground development committee Gloucester City would like to provide the following update on our quest to return to the City and our own stadium, with the headline being a realistic target to return to our new ground for the season after next.\r\n\r\nChairman Mike Dunstan states “There is a real sense of momentum building from recent positive meetings with funding authorities, politicians, technical experts and other stakeholders that have increased our confidence and determination around a return target of the 2016/17 season.\r\n\r\n”There cannot of course be cast iron guarantees at this point because there are so many parts of the plan out of our control, but we believe we are developing a viable plan to phase construction so that we can deliver enough of the stadium to achieve the necessary B grading for our return, before completing the ground to A grade level after we are in.\r\n\r\n“There is of course an enormous amount of work to do, and we continue to develop a great team to deliver that.\r\n\r\n”To that end I am delighted to say that Wayne Organ, a Director of Roberts Limbrick Ltd has joined the group and will lead on the detailed pre-and post-planning design work.\r\n\r\nWayne brings enormous experience to the table, and it’s great to have such a major Gloucester company on board. Wayne’s first priority will be work out the phasing of the ground build to deliver the initial B Grade and ensure as efficient an overall build as possible.”\r\n\r\nIn addition the club has had very positive discussions with experts in obtaining grant funding, and an appointment is imminent there so that we have all paperwork ready and lodged with funding bodies for consideration as soon as full planning is achieved.\r\n\r\nVery early, informal discussions have begun with various potential partners who might make use of stadium facilities when not in use for football, which would help provide high utilisation and an income stream for the club.\r\n\r\nIn conclusion, Mike Dunstan said “I hope this gives the fans, and the whole City a real lift and a sense that there is a very bright light at the end of a long tunnel.\r\n\r\n”We are focusing on that now – what has happened in the past is gone and the only thing that matters is that we build a future for this football club that makes it a point of real pride for the whole City. But we still need help, both with the building of the stadium and the development of the club.\r\n\r\n”The fans are already showing their support with strong early season ticket sales, but now is the right time for the business community to get behind the return of this great football club – we are standing ready to talk to anyone who can partner with us to develop this club and take it to the next level.\r\n\r\n”Now is the time to get on board with Gloucester City Football Club, and build something really special for the City and County”
