Gloucester City are happy to announce the signing of Goalkeeper James Hamon from Exeter City on a three month loan, coming to fill the No.1 Jersey vacated after fan favourite Tom Hadler’s return to Gillingham.
James Hamon signed a professional contract at Exeter City in the summer of 2014 and quickly worked his way into battling for the No. 1 spot making 22 appearances that season.
His debut came in a 3-1 defeat away at Coventry City in the Football League Trophy before he made his first League start for City as they defeated table-topping Shrewsbury Town 3-2 at home.
The past two seasons James’ first appearances have been limited as he played understudy to both Christy Pym and Bobby Olejnik in the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons but he has been an integral part of the squad at St James Park; featuring heavily this season in the Checkatrade trophy where he conducted himself well in the 3-1 defeat against a Chelsea team which featured Under 17 World Cup winner Calum Hudson-Odoi and Kylian Hazard, brother of Chelsea talisman Eden Hazard.
Marc Richards had this to say, “James comes highly recommended from Exeter and I’d like to thank both Matt Taylor and Paul Tisdale for making this loan happen. James met and trained with the team yesterday and is really excited to get some first team games under his belt for Gloucester”
On behalf of the Supporters and everyone involved with Gloucester City, we’d like to welcome James to the Club and we’d like to wish him all the best in his first team debut against Weston Super Mare at the Jubilee Stadium on Saturday.
