Gloucester City Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of Welsh forward Chris Jones.\r\n\r\nThe 24-year-old has played professionally for his entire career with spells at his hometown club Swansea City, Cambridge United, Grimsby Town, Neath Athletic and most recently Welsh champions The New Saints.\r\n\r\nHe has also represented his country at Under 17, Under 19, Under 21 and semi-pro levels and has experience of European football whilst at TNS.\r\n\r\nTigers manager Tim Harris is excited to welcome the winger-striker to the club and believes Jones will help the club provide a more positive threat and add to their attacking options.\r\n\r\n“Chris is a great signing for us; he has wanted to come back to English football for a while and has had interest from clubs from higher divisions in recent weeks,” explained Harris.\r\n\r\n“I spoke with him and offered him the chance of joining us on a short term deal to come and help us out, much like we did with Jake Gosling last season.”\r\n\r\n“He wants to be back in the Football League and we’ll do everything we can to help in that regard.”\r\n\r\n“Our league is near enough a national division so we can help Chris out with the rigours of travelling; it is a signing that works excellently for both the club and Chris.”\r\n\r\nHarris is in talks with an experienced central defender who trained with the team at Hartpury College this evening.\r\n\r\nThe club is set to lose defender Ruairidh Winters, who has been out recently with an ankle injury.\r\n\r\nThe defender has been offered a good job opportunity back in his home county of Lancashire and heads back with the best wishes from all at the club.
