He might be one of the youngest players in the squad but Adam Mann will be making history on Sunday when Gloucester City take on Leyton Orient.\n\nMidfielder Adam wasn’t even born when City last reached the First Round Proper but as a Gloucester-born player he knows just how much it means to the club and the fans.\n\n\n“I am excited to be part of such a big game,” he said. “Matt Coupe said to us that he has waited 18 years to be part of a game like this and that made me realise that I may never get this far again so it’s important we make the most of it and enjoy it.”\n\n\nIt is also a personal achievement for the youngster, who missed the start of the season after breaking his foot in pre-season. His first home game this year was the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. Coming on as a sub in the second half he played his part in the 14 rapid passes which led up to Darren Edwards’ winning goal.\n\nIn the video of the goal and the aftermath he can be spotted celebrating wildly.\n\nHe explained what it was like to be part of such an important game.\n\n“I was so glad to be back in contention for the Chippenham game as my injury couldn’t have come at a worse time being a week before the league started,” he said. “But being a Gloucester boy I knew how big this game was, I wasn’t even born the last time they made it this far! \n\n“That’s why when we scored I went crazy, it was the best feeling I’ve had as a player! I knew how much it meant to us and the fans so I just wanted to celebrate with everyone then and there.”\n\nLast year’s aborted cup run was Adam’s first proper experience of the FA Cup but he’s all too aware of City’s poor record in the competition up until now.\n\nHe said: “I’ve spoken to Muzzie (Neil Mustoe, player/coach) and Rands (Lee Randall, kitman) about past times but its normally been the dreaded Lowestoft game or what went wrong at Shortwood that gets brought up. “Obviously last year too at Chelmsford which was heartbreaking when they equalised in the last minute to make the replay. So I’m glad that now we can put them games to rest an remember the time we made the First Round instead at long last!”
