Gloucester City AFC and Gloucester City Supporters’ Trust are saddened to hear of the death of our friend Gordon Pointer.\n\nGordon was a stalwart supporter of the club and helped to raise tens of thousands of pounds for the Supporters’ Trust.\n\nFrom the half-time raffle and the Christmas Draw to social evenings and even organising the players’ meals after games, Gordon, alongside his wife Sally, has been part of the lifeblood of the club and the trust.\n\nClub chairman Nigel Hughes said: “As a club we are proud to have such passionate fans and we are all shocked to hear that one of our football family has died so suddenly.\n\n”Many of us have fond memories of Gordon trying to sell us a raffle ticket or from the social events he helped organise. Without the efforts of people like Gordon our club would not exist.\n\n”Our thoughts are with Gordon’s wife Sally and his family and friends.”\n\nLee Mills, chairman of Gloucester City Supporters Trust, paid tribute to Gordon.\n\nHe said: “On behalf of the trust board and its membership we would like to offer our condolences to Sally and all of Gordon’s family and friends at this sad time.\n\n”Gordon has been an integral part of the success of the supporters trust over many years. His dedication, loyalty and enthusiasm was admired by all and he was a great friend to many of us. Gordon will be irreplaceable and fondly remembered by everyone.”\n\nFirst team manager Dave Mehew said: “The players, backroom staff and I are saddened to hear the news about Gordon.\n\n”We are always told by visiting teams that the food we provide after games is the best they’ve had and that is in no small part due to the efforts of Gordon, Sally and the other volunteers who look after us so well.\n\n”We all send our condolences and best wishes to Sally, Gordon’s family and his friends.”\n\n
