Gloucester City’s FA Trophy run fizzled out like a damp firework, losing by a single goal to Maidenhead United.\n\n\nA scrappy first half saw both sides squander chances in front of goal. As the action raced from end to end keeper Mike Green grabbed a Maidenhead corner before his namesake defender was ruled offside in front of goal at the other end.\n\nKeeper Green did well under pressure, as the visitors pushed forward, David Pratt should’ve done better on 15 minutes after nipping through the City defence, but shot well wide.\n\nLewis Hogg’s rasping free kick beat the wall on 21 minutes but went the wrong side of the post. Pratt had another poor effort on 25 minutes before his teammate Tison-Lascaris took his chances. Green palmed away his first shot but Tison-Lascaris was there to poke the rebound past him.\n\nGreen rushed out of his box on 40 minutes but again Pratt lacked composure, dancing around the City defence and failing to take advantage of an open goal.\n\n\n\nCity were equally wasteful in the second half, knocking the ball about the box instead of taking shot.\n\nHogg had a shot go wide before an energetic Steve Davies run down the right wing saw Billy Lumley pluck the ball out of the air.\n\n\nTom Hamblin headed the ball over the bar on 68 minutes before Pratt missed another open goal and was promptly subbed. \n\nCity’s pair of free kicks in the final ten minutes came to nothing as the game took on a frantic air, with bookings being dished out on both sides.\n\nJack Harris’ ambitious lob from the halfway line beat Lumley but was eventually cleared and Tom Hamblin’s powerful volley flew wide late on but the final rally was too little too late.\n\nGloucester City: M Green, M Green (J Tillson 46), S Davies, M Coupe, T Hamblin, T Webb (M Harding), L Hogg, J Goddard, D Edwards, W Morford (A Mann 66), J Harris\n\nSubs: S Rawlings, N Mustoe\n\nMaidenhead United: B Lumley, L Solomon, B Behladi, D Brown, M Nisbet, J Regis, J Crook, M Pook, D Pratt (A Hall 73), C Flood, R Tison-Lascaris (P Semakyla 73)\n\nSubs: H Pritchard,L Henry, A Tokarczyk\n\nAtt: 242\n\nStar man: Jack Harris\n\nRef: Michael D’Aguilar
