Gloucester City 3 – 1 Plymouth Parkway

Robert (1 Min)                             Carter (2 Mins)

Williams (67 Mins)

Jackson (79 Mins)

A sublime debut goal from Fabien and goals from Harry Williams and the returning Jake Jackson were enough to take City past a spirited Plymouth Parkway side and put them in the draw for the 3rd Qualifying round of the emirates FA Cup.

Fans were still making their way to the stands when City got off to a flying start with Fabien Robert producing a moment of magic on his debut inside the first 20 seconds, taking on two players and beating Kyle Moore with a shot high to the keepers left.

However this is the FA Cup and City were brought back down to earth with a bump when a late tackle by Avery in the City defence caused referee Scot Talis to point to the penalty spot and no mistakes were made as Adam Carter slotted home to Yates’ left.

The action didn’t let up as City fans were up in arms on 15 mins when Joe Parker was hauled down in the box and the referee waved for play to go on. 5 minutes later though Parker almost got the goal his recent performances have warranted as he broke through the Plymouth defence and as the on rushing Moore slipped, Parker’s touch was a shade too heavy and his deft lob hit the cross bar.

Gloucester City didn’t have it all their own way and Plymouth Parkway grew into the half asking questions of the hosts and there was relief from City come the half time whistle as Plymouth had been in the ascendancy.

Marc Richards though rang the changes at half time and brought on Harry Williams for Chris Knowles and his decision was vindicated on 67 mins when Williams blasted a parried shot high into the opposition goal.

With Fabien Robert looking a threat throughout there was no stopping City as chances came thick and fast with Lawrence shooting narrowly wide and as he was replaced by the returning Jake Jackson City found their third goal. Jackson not showing any signs of the injury that had him side lined for a month, latched on to a through ball and slotted past Moore to book City’s passage to the next round of the Cup.

City now turn their attentions to the National League South with their next fixture at home to Eastbourne Borough at the Jubilee, Evesham, Saturday 28th September, Kick Off 15:00.
