Gloucester Futsal Revolution ran out comfortable 5-1 winners in the end against Birmingham Tigers yesterday in the second city.\r\n\r\nA calm controlled purposeful Revolution pressed and harried the tigers, going close to opening the scoring in the first ten minutes. Tigers sat deep and counter attacked a tactic that nearly paid off when Davood Maroofi’s shot from 20 yards was stopped by a flying Bruno Viana in goals. The Gloucester boys remained calm, they built their attacks through the left boot of Jose Navarette and eventually broke the deadlock with a shot from Arran Stewart that arrowed past the keepers head into the top right hand corner.\r\n\r\nHT 0-1\r\n\r\nThe tigers came out for the second half with the high press but nothing could stop Gloucester, hard work and calm passing lead to a multitude of chances for Jorge Carracelas and Luke Payne with Stewart eventually profiting again by banging home another wonder strike before some great play by Nathan Payne on the left hand side resulted in a ball being whipped across the goal for Stewart to calmly side foot home. The Hartpury student, who only recently signed for Gloucester has begun to look like a really good find for the Revolution and his finishing gave Gloucester a cushion going into the last 10 mins. Tigers rallied with 8 mins left on the clock and scored, ¬†Gloucester defended well against an onslaught and thanks to replacement keeper Dan Welch’s outstanding efforts to snuff out the brief flurry they held fast. A late long penalty conversion from captain Luke Williams and a fifth from Jonas De Lima Martins made the journey back down the M5 all the sweeter. Cameo appearance by rising star Jack Morgan a 16 year old Gloucester lad who has been in system since he was 12 really wrapped the day up for the Revolution.\r\n\r\nSpecial thanks go to GVTV and Hartpury Sport for their continued support.\r\n\r\nAlso special thanks to Fernando Silva, Fernando has to leave us to concentrate on his business. ¬†We want to wish him good luck and hope he can rejoin us in the future. Without Fernando’s help and dedication to rebuilding the club in the summer we wouldn’t exist. We owe you one Fernando.
