Gloucester City 1 – 1 Solihull Moors\r\n\r\nGloucester City rounded off a damp squib of a weekend with an uninspiring draw against Solihull Moors.\r\n\r\nWith all the possession but something missing in the final third City struggled to show dominance for any period of time.\r\n\r\nOff the back of a disappointing display against Histon City started with renewed energy. Steve Davies, in place of the injured Ben Hunt, started out wide on the right with Tom Webb filling Hunt’s place on the left.\r\n\r\nDespite winning battle in terms of possession City struggled to find the spark in the final third. Jas Singh’s early fumble nearly gifted Darren Edwards a chance but it wasn’t to be.\r\n\r\nA clear handball by Danny Spencer looked like gifting City a penalty on 20 minutes but referee Richard Hulme instead awarded a free kick right on the edge of the box. Lewis Hogg’s free kick found Davies but the hapless winger scuffed it deep into a garden somewhere in Whaddon.\r\n\r\nWith a series of corners won Gloucester looked for a way past Singh but more often than not the Solihull keeper had little to do.\r\n\r\nIt was Darren Mullings who broke the deadlock on 29 minutes, jumping high to head it past Singh.\r\n\r\nWebb looked to have made it 2-0 minutes later, rushing through clear on goal only to fire wide of the post.\r\n\r\nSolihull’s Reece Fleet was lucky to stay on the pitch after a nasty two-footed lunge on Jack Harris on 40 minutes.\r\n\r\nMullings saw a shot fly into the stands as the rain drifted in from Cleeve Hill in the final moments of the half.\r\n\r\nSolihull started stronger in the second half with Andre Francis once again looking like a threat.\r\n\r\nOn the back foot City scrambled to defend and ultimately gave away another late penalty, Gavin Hurrens drawing the score level from the spot on 78 minutes.\r\n\r\nThe introduction of Scott Wilson Kate on added pace for Gloucester but the second goal never looked like coming, Mullings coming closest with a wide shot in the final minutes.\r\n\r\nGloucester City: C Thompson, M Green, J Harris, M Coupe, J Tillson, T Webb, L Hogg’ D Mullings, D Edwards, W Morford (S Wilson 84), S Davies.
